Ohh… I have always dreamed of going to Hawaii. After
watching the different videos on this unit it makes me wish I was able to teach
the different places around the world to me students However in third grade we
are on a go go go period that I feel I wouldn’t have time to step out form the
standards. I enjoyed the PowerPoints as well. I feel that contained a lot of information
that I will find useful in my classroom. I like how the different information helps
us understand how we can put theses in our classroom. I think it would be great
to integrate this with a reading assignment in the classroom. I have always
been a big fan of Graphic Organizers We use them a lot in our class. I feel
that If we were using graphic organizers then it helps the children organizes their
thoughts and ideas on paper. The guide-o rama was very interesting to me. I
have never seen their graphic organizer used in the classroom. I It like how it
related the different perspectives on how students read narrative text verse
expository text. I like how they focus the expository test I thought it was
neat how it was used as a pacing guides for the students as they read. It would
really help the students understand what they are reading and improve their fluency.
It helps them keep track of the rate they are reading. We use graphic organizers
as assessment in the classroom, but I really like how they shared on how to use
them throughout the different videos.
Fry’s check list was really interesting to me. I do fry words
every day with my children. We review the words. This really helps a child with
their fluency level. I like how it narrowed it down more in depth as to what is
expected of us teacher and how the student respond to this type of reading strategies.
I feel this video was great with helping parents understand
The reading focused more on expository texts and how they
affected the students. The students that I have always taught, focused more on
the different informational reading and what the students take from it. I feel
that they are struggling because there is no personal relationship that they
can related to it I hard for them to understand what they are reading. I
thought it was neat when they talked about the different things a teacher
should do before giving this assignment.
Overall, I took a lot away from this reading and watching the videos. I feel that the graphic organizer videos and information was the most useful for me to use in my classroom. This module helped me think outside the bx. It will help me use the information as a teacher.
